Rainier Athletes Family,

Although it gives us great disappointment to announce the postponement of Unity of Community, the theme of this event is more relevant today than perhaps ever. The Coronavirus does not discriminate based on gender, or race, or income or whatever language you happen to speak at home. This pandemic impacts each and everyone of us. And although we cannot be physically together during this challenging time we can all find unity in hope, in love and in the energy that we emit into the space around us. Unity means we can all be scared without being scary (Brene Brown). Unity means we can all be careful and still be caring. Unity means that we can all choose to see light at the end of the tunnel and then reflect that light to those who need it the most.

For the foreseeable future, here are a few quick tips to practice and promote unity:

  • Set up a virtual meal with friends and family (Rainier Athletes students and mentors are using Google Hangouts for weekly check ins!)

  • Take an online class to learn a new skill Free Online Classes Brush up on your culinary skills and share your recipe (and food with those around you)

  • Do a virtual workout with friends using the free Google Hangouts App Write a letter to someone who needs some encouragement

  • Learn a new language on a free app like DuoLingo so you can better connect with a community member who speaks that language

  • Interview your relatives to find out more about your family history Call someone you love every single day

Together we are stronger. Together we are ONE Team!
